Executive Directors share insights on board service with SEAT participants

Writer: Kim Bianca BurgessKim Bianca Burgess

Our SEAT program offers a variety of tools to assist our minority community members in developing skills needed to successfully serve on local community nonprofit boards. Recently, we hosted our Executive Director Panel Discussion which is part of our ten-week program. This forum allows our program participants to view board service from the lens of an Executive Director.

Our panelists included Catherine Awwad, Elizabeth Brown, Ginne-Rae Clay, Althea Marshall Brooks, Patricia Russo, and was moderated by Wendy Tyson-Wood. Their transparent dialogue of successes and obstacles will further the capacity of our program participants as we position them for board service.

Special thanks to our Emeritus Sponsor, Connecticut Community Foundation for recognizing the need of incorporating the voices and lived experiences of minority community members on community nonprofit boards in the City of Waterbury.
